*** PLAYERS ***
(Henschel Schauspiel Berlin)
(2W, 3M, 1 Deko)
"The dialog is a celebration for the actors." (Erika Stephan in her laudatio at Rostock's playwright competition 1999)
"Egocentric one fighter in a single society cold as ice. Sense and self-affirmation they get only via quick sex and by abasing other people. Everybody fights against everybody – like in Moritz Rinke's Republik Vineta and Marius von Mayenburg's Parasiten." (Neues Deutschland)
"The debut of a playwright, whose text shows, apart from the scenic quality, an extreme poetic power. Buchsteiner's play reminds to Heiner Müller's Quartett." (Ostsee-Zeitung)
"This extraordinary level you always wish from theatre - An absolute must!" (Neuste Norddeutsche Nachrichten)
"The story is about money, sex and violence. The Volkstheater Rostock opens tonight with the excessive-provoking "Players" by Torsten Buchsteiner."
(Bild Rostock)
"Players - a highlight in theatre Rostock. (...) But a politic from SPD Party announced, you should not present such a violent play to the audience."
(Nordkurier Neubrandenburg)
"By this energic work a lot of people will be shocked. But if you prefer "feel-good-stories" you have to watch TV." (Berliner Zeitung)

*** Died for germany ***
At 03. + 04.10.2002 the playwright festival "19+5" took place in LT Tuebingen. The theme was "Day of the german reunion".
Torsten Buchsteiner wrote the short drama "Died for germany" and directed himself the monolog with the actress Julia Nehmiz.
Press review:
"On the big stage it's time for change of roles: The audience sits on the stage and the actress Julia Nehmiz is in between the seats like in front of court. She murdered her child in a insane reflex, after her husband, a K-FOR soldier on the balcan, deserted to commit suicide. Exactly this in Torsten Buchsteiners text "Died for germany" is too much over the top." (Wilhelm Triebold, Schwäbisches Tagblatt, 05.10.2002)

"You were seated on the big stage and listed to Julia Nehmiz, who spoke Torsten Buchsteiners (Berlin, 37) "Died for Germany" - a dime play about K-FOR soldier Kalle, who commits suicide in the Kosovo." (Jürgen Berger, Schwäbische Zeitung, 10.10.2002)
